Lettings & Property Management Update...
The last few weeks have certainly been eventful!
Newcastle Council have announced they are pausing the introduction of their new property licensing scheme for three months, until 6th July 2020. In light of the emergency measures required to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic, properties could not be accessed and contractors were unable to undertake any remedial work. Landlords should contact the Council if they are unable to comply or if they are struggling financially as a result of Coronavirus:

Meanwhile, the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standard (MEES) came into force on 1st April 2020. Landlords with properties assessed at ‘F’ and ‘G’ (EPC Rating) must now improve the rating to an ‘E’ or register an exemption if they want to continue to let it. Details of the exemptions available and how to apply can be found on the Government website.
Finally, our Property Management team are working from home at present and are happy to talk to landlords and tenants about any issues that crop up during this difficult time.
Best wishes,
Jonathan Parker
