Register to Sell your home before 10 September or face a charge of £500
The Department of Communities and Local Government announced on 17 August the next phase in the roll out of Home Information Packs (HIPs) - from 10 September, anyone selling a property with three or more bedrooms will be required by law to provide a HIP costing £500, and it's not just the cost of the pack which could cause sellers a headache…
Justin Anim, Pattinson managing director, says: "Three bedrooms and above represents a significant proportion of the property market, so this is going to affect many vendors.
"Questions are still unanswered about the availability of qualified assessors able to carry out ratings for the Energy Performance Certificate, which is a key part of the HIP. In the event of a shortage of assessors, this could have a serious impact on the property market and potentially delay and effect sales when HIPs become a legal requirement in just 17 days time.
"By registering your home for sale ahead of this deadline you will avoid the cost and potential problems caused by HIPs and our staff are taking more and more calls from vendors keen to do so.
"We're anticipating our valuers will be increasingly busy as we approach 10 September and my advice is to discuss sale options with us as soon as possible to avoid the rush and so we can achieve the best price we can for you."
