North East Presence In National Auction Ranking

Pattinson's Auction division continues to grow and this year moves up to 14th place in the National Property Auction Index top 20 with sales of over £85million in 2006.

The North East estate agency first began its successful auctions in 1991 and pioneered auction for 'ordinary' residential property vendors. It first broke into the top 20 national rankings last year at 16th place and another record year sees it climb two more places.

Rankings on the Index are based on the amount of money realised through sales through the auction houses in 2006, according to independent information provided by the Essential Information Group.

Head of Auction, Richard Francis, comments: "Pattinson is the only North East firm to feature in the UK's top 20 and, in contrast to the other auction houses on this list, our position there is almost entirely due to our success in taking auction to the residential market.

"We've achieved this using the Conditional Auction concept, which we introduced at Pattinson 13 years ago to make auctions more accessible to ordinary homebuyers and vendors."

In the Conditional Auction, the buyer pays a £1,000 non-refundable deposit following a successful bid and exchange of contracts occurs within 28 days. Pattinson also offers the more traditional Un-conditional Auction, where the buyer pays a ten per cent deposit and sales are completed within 28 days.

Richard is confident that the Pattinson auction division will continue to grow and next year plans to improve even further on its current position.

He continues: "We aim to break in to the top ten in next year's Index, and with monthly auctions underway in Teesside as well our regular Newcastle auctions, we're confident we can continue to build on what was an exceptional year."
