Brits go green in ‘Solar Spain'

Brits buying property in Spain will join the ongoing, solar powered 'green revolution'...

As reported by Homesworldwide.co.uk, a Spanish law was passed last year which made it a requirement for new or newly renovated buildings to have solar power systems.

This means that new Spanish properties come complete with hot water systems using renewable energy.

The use of insulation and the maximisation of natural light has also become mandatory - which means Spanish property owners can save energy and money at the same time.

Another environmental development came this June, when telecoms firm Telefonica announced that its Madrid office was about to become Europe’s largest solar-power-generating office.

And Spanish property hunters in search of a particularly environmentally-friendly location may want to consider Navarre.

Almost 70 per cent of the province’s energy is currently generated by green sources - with authorities planning to make this figure 100 per cent by the end of the decade.
