500 North East Employment Opportunities Created
Pattinson, the North East's largest independent estate agency, has announced plans to expand its workforce by up to 500 people.
The planned expansion will almost treble Pattinson's 225-strong workforce, which is currently spread across 29 region-wide branches and an out of hours Customer Contact Centre.
Justin Anim, managing director, explains: "This year we've successfully 'soft-launched' a new scheme for self-employed agents working from home under the Pattinson umbrella.
"It's been extremely successful and we're now looking to expand the scheme to as many as 500 people in the region. Our current IT Network can support growth up to and beyond this figure so there's every possibility that we could grow this style of estate agency still further in the future."
The Pattinson homeworking scheme offers the opportunity to pursue a career in estate agency without the restrictions of set working hours. Using their own home as a base, homeworkers are connected to the Pattinson database via an Internet connection and an innovative telephone routing system ensures they receive geographically relevant customer queries.
Justin continues: "Our burgeoning success in this area reflects the popularity of this style of flexible working nationally. Figures* show that the number of homeworkers nationally has risen to 3.1 million from 2.3 million in 1997 and it's an excellent opportunity for us to engage potential workers in the North East who want a career but cannot commit to full time hours."
